11:32 AM EDT, 05/11/2026 (MT Newswires) -- SoftBank Group (SFT.F) founder Masayoshi Son is reportedly considering investing up to $100 billion in a large-scale French artificial intelligence data center as part of the company's AI infrastructure expansion plans.

Son, who serves as the Japanese technology investor's corporate officer, chairman and chief executive officer, has held discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the matter, Bloomberg News wrote Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Son and Macron could make an announcement within May, according to the sources, who added that the project details and investment scope may still change.

SoftBank and the French president's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
